Introducing Willie Snipes Jr. Willie is the Assistant Band Director at Miles College and is a fan of the network. Tim Hinton is a composer and arranger writing for concert bands marching bands and part of the host team of The Marching Roundtable. The Marching Roundtable is a place for discussion on important topics in the marching arts.Tim also serves as a consultant for all aspects of marching shows, from show concepts to drill and color guard. Tim marched with the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps of Rockford Illinois for three summers (1980-82). won the DCI Individual and Ensemble Competition on french horn in 1982, being the first person in DCI history to receive a perfect score of 100 in individual competition.
Tonight we meet Timberly Smmons. Timberly is the creative mind behind MuzikMIll. Muzilk Mill is a radio network, a magazine, but also deals in fashion, music, video gams, books and more! We talk to Timberly to find out how she started Muzik Mill, what keeps her going and what she has planned for the future.
Introducing Thaddeus Dixon. Thaddeus is a professor of Psychology and attended Jackson State with our host. Thaddeus, using his educational expertise is doing something interesting in his discipline that benefits more than just the study of Psychology. Tonight we meet Thaddeus to find out more about his intriguing career.
Introducing TD Hollins. TD is the director of bands at St. Augustine University. TD and I marched together at Johnson C Smith in 1996 and both of us transferred to different programs the following year. Today we meet TD to find out where he is from, where he went after Smith and how he became the Director of Bands at St. Augustine.
Taylor Whitehead is the band director at Warren County HS in Warrenton, NC. Taylor marched tuba for Virginia State University. Warren County's band and drumline have been very successful in the National High Stepping Competitions. In addition, Taylor is the Vice President of the NC High Stepping Band Directors Association as well as on the Advisory Board for High Stepping Nationals.
Introducing Tamala Lewis. Tamala Lewis is the Home Depot Center Charitable Foundation & Community Affairs Director and a graduate of Spelman College. She coordinates the Battle of the Bands for high school students at the Home Depot Center in Los Angeles, CA. This battle of the bands gives exposure to show bands and allows directors to recruit in the southern California area where there is little show band influence. We talk to the Tamala tonight to talk about her experiences with this event and prepares the listener for this year's event on October 27, 2012.
Stuart Pompel was a founding instructor of Pacific Crest in 1993, and has served as its Executive Director since 1996. He has led the growth of the organization from a small performing group to a nationally recognized arts education organization, and a member of the Drum Corps International World Class. Stuart has nurtured relationships between Pacific Crest and corporate leaders to benefit the community.
Introducing Shamica Sweat. Shamica works with a line of adult relationship products, as a woman to woman representative that helps to augment realtionships. Shamica went to high school with our host and before becoming an entrepeneur was a part of a championship team with our host and one of our previous Choppin It Up guest. Tonight, in the spirit of Valentine's Day, we meet Shamica to find out where she went to school, and what motivates her in her business.
Introducing Robert Conner of Cream Percussion. Robert is an engineer that started a percussion studio to educate youth on correct playing styles in percussion. Robert runs a free percussion clinic in Atlanta called the Citywide Atlanta Percussion Clinic. His objective is To engage students in the beginning, intermediate, and advanced approaches to marching percussion.
Introducing Rashad Watters. Rashad, a proud graduate of Hampton University, is the owner and founder of Block Band Music. Block Band Music & Publishing, LLC. is a company that caters to marching bands and concert bands across the country. Today we find out where Rashad is from and how he started Block Band Music.
Introducing Norma T. Hollins. Norma is an entrepeneuer in the speech profession and develops programs and services that help individuals and organizations expand their view of themselves and what they can make possible. Thousands of people have benefited from her perspective and tools, while she continues to expand her current business. Tonight we meet Norma to find out where she is from, how she got started and all about being authentic.
Introducing Steve Tirmenstein, known to most of his students as Mr. T. Mr. Tirmenstein was the high school band director at Lutheran North High School in St. Louis, MO and was the middle school, junior high and high school band director for our host. Mr. Tirmenstein was someone special and also connected with our host to achieve superior ratings and a championship outside of music.
Introducing Michael Cowens. Michael is the Director of Bands at Fairley High School. Michael also serves as the head to the Fine Arts Department, an arranger and an adjudicator. Michael during his time in college was in a famous battle against our host and has an interesting story on the school he earned his degree. Tonight we find out where Michael is from and he tells us a great story of how he got into and finished college.
Introducing Marion Kendrick. Marion is a proud HBCU graduate and CEO of Center of Attention Entertainment and also works as a stand up comic and entertainment entrepreneur in Los Angeles, CA. Marion works hard in the industry to promote his brand and always expresses the importance of education and supporting HBCU's by hosting HBCU centered events so tonight we met Marion to find out where he went to school and about his experiences in the entertainment industry.
Introducing Mara Hall. Mara is a proud graduate of Jackson State University and marched in the Sonic Boom with the host. Mara currently works as an actress in Hollywood! Find out how where Mara is from and her road to Southern California.
Introducing Maleta Wilson. Maleta is the owner and founder of HBCU Campus Tours. HBCU Campus Tours sends kids from the southern California area to visit hbcu's in the south. She also marched at a top level HBCU marching band. Find out where Maleta is from, where she marched and why she started the HBCU Campus Tours.
Introducing Ms. Lolita Carter. Coach Carter is from Birmingham, AL and received her education in music from out west. Dominguez High School is one of the few show marching bands in the state of California and City Sound is a Drum and Bugle Corp group that competes DCI.
Introducing Lewis Suarez. Lewis is a sophomore at Prarie View A&M studying Mass Communications and marches baritone in the marching band. We talk to Lewis about being latino in the marching band and being latino at a historically black college.
Introducing Kevin Thurman. Kevin is a staffing consultant for Oxford Global Resources, but also travels the country competing in amateur athletics. Kevin went to high school with our host and was partner with our host in an after school class. Kevin has taken what he learned in that class and applied it to his life. It has evolved into a great hobby, that Kevin hopes one day will make a difference. Tonight we meet Kevin to find out where he is from, where he went to school, what sport he competes in and how he got into competing on a national level so long after high school.

Julian went to high school with our host and share lots of similarities in their educational development. Julian has always been a mature role model figure and that has helped the community in St. Louis during a time when mature leaders are needed.
